Referee tells NC State coach to "Shut your Fucking Ass Up" following Controversial Charge

For a referee bias lean about this same story, check out the detail-oriented piece on the NC State fan site.

The Atlantic Coast Conference officiating crew does not hold back their feelings A tweet posted in the second half during the North Carolina vs. NC State ACC tournament semi-final game that said, “Gottfried: “That’s a charge!” Ref Brian Dorsey: “Shut your #$%^&& ass up!” has yet to stir the pot that I would have thought it would by now, so I've decided to make it more national.

Following the finish of the game in which North Carolina defeated NC State, Gottfried was asked a question about the refereeing in which he replied, "I'd get fined for answering that." Well played, Mark.

Other eye-witness reports from actual media members on press row next to the first tweeter corroborate that an ACC referee did indeed just went there with a head coach, showing that at least one referee has aggressiveness for his job. As you can see in the video, Gottfried is seen screaming "that's a charge!" with two referees just a few feet away before they end the highlight on the crucial play.

If only referees spoke up with their own opinions so the home viewers could hear. Better thought, maybe they should just "shut their fucking ass up." Although, I do like the thought of a head coach and a referee throw 'bows and knuckles' at eachother during a game. [Follow me @TravisHouser]

  1. Yay!!! for Fran!! He stated it the way it should be, but never is. "Call it the same way in the last 10 seconds as you do in the first 10 seconds." Nowhere in the ANY rulebook is there a disclaimer, addendum or modification that states "you let the players decide the game on the court WITHOUT REGARD TO THE PREVIOUSLY STATED RULES." That attitude is crap. If you play 39:50 of a college game calling it by the rules, you CANNOT throw out the rules for the last couple of possessions. But it happens all the time. NCAA, NBA, high school. They all do it. It's the real world and I hate it.
