According to the Dallas Morning News, Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton had a relapse this last week in his battle against drug and alcohol addiction, and was seen drinking in an area bar on Monday night. The Rangers organization’s only comment was that they were "aware of the situation.” If it was one drink, or maybe 10 drinks, remains a question, but with Josh Hamilton's past, this is a cause for worry.
Not confirmed, but some people tweeted that Ian Kinsler was at the bar with him on the same night. Which makes this whole development even more terrible. [This has been confirmed.]
After a season when he was part of the cause that led to a fan accidentally dying, he has been dealing with emotions that very few have to deal with. His last relapse was 2009 when scandalous photos of him and a few ladies were seen enjoying a bar. Hopefully the Dallas Morning News has bad information.
Josh Hamilton is a free agent after this season. Now would be an awful time for him to get red-flagged all over again. Somebody please tell Josh's grandma. [Follow me @TravisHouser]
