Uh-Oh, Jim Rome leaves ESPN for CBS Sports Network

Jim Rome is no longer burning national sports on ESPN after nearly two decades of paychecks. He will soon be taking his rants, of clowning athletes and clones, over to the non-BCS conference game channel CBS Sports Network (CBSSN). Rome was presented with a multi-year offer to return to the network, but he did not accept it. His final burn?

The Big Lead reports that Jim Rome's role at CBSSN will be expanded somehow. Could he get the Dan Patrick treatment and have a national radio/television show in works, along with the "Jim Rome is Burning" 30-minute show?

More Skip Bayless on ESPN2? Serenity now.

Jim Rome will have a rant on radio soon to inform all his followers of what is about to go down. Unfortunately, I won't be able to hear that rant because I live in Houston (FIX THIS!).

Update: Jim Rome's departure Tweet:
I want to thank ESPN for the opportunity to host JRIB & all the support I received over the years. I'm looking forward to future endeavors.
