Jerry Sandusky's Final Victim, Joe Paterno, Dead at 85

The legendary, and now outcasted, Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno has died from poor health, according to his family. Onward State, the student-run Penn State newspaper, reported on Saturday that Paterno had been taken off his respirator that morning. Yesterday, sitting in the hospital room, Joe Paterno's family and close friends were gathering to say their last farewells. Today, Sunday, the family has announced that JoePa has died.

Statement by the Paterno family: "It is with great sadness that we announce that Joe Paterno passed away earlier today." Now Joe Paterno goes from getting RIPped to getting R.I.P. from the college football fans who may finally end their ostracizing of him from the last year of his career.

I would like to think his final words, like when he was ousted as Penn State head coach, were "We Are Penn State," as he unclinches his fist and rests. Farewell. [Follow me @TravisHouser]
