Deron Williams may not want to see Nets Prokhorov for Now

Deron Williams is one of Turkey's all-time favorite basketball players due to his prestigious 12 game career with the Besiktas team this season. Once the NBA lockout ended, he is headed back to New Jersey to play with the Brooklyn New Jersey Nets for the 2011-12 season due to the surprising trade that sent him from the Utah Jazz during the trade deadline.

A trade that made the team give up 2010 1st round draft pick Derrick Favors and two future 1st round draft picks in the deal for Williams. Well this bit of news will upset new Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov to an extreme proportion already for next season:

“Deron will not be signing the extension,” Jeff Schwartz told The Record this afternoon. “Based on the new rules it doesn’t make any sense for him to sign the extension. It has nothing to do with how much he likes New Jersey. Because of the rules, he’s going to play the season out and opt out of his deal.”

Thus, proves that the NBA players have all the power in the world to determine how great a NBA franchise can be. Will Brooks Lopez be able to lure Dwight Howard, Chris Paul or even Deron Williams back following the NBA season? (Ha!)



Prediction: No Dwight Howard (Lakers?). No Chris Paul (Knicks). No Deron Williams (Mavericks?). How does Prokhorov feel about Jameer Nelson being the face of the, soon, Brooklyn Nets?
