Joe . Athletic Director and school officials, out. Penn State QB, ?
I can confirm that Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin was knocked out after practice today during a fight. More to come. At today's practice, in preparation for the TicketCity bowl game against Houston on January 2nd, Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake got into an heated, altercation. As you read above, turns out that altercation led to the wide receiver, Drake, punching out his own QB.
These were the reports before the confirmation came forward:
Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake were involved in fight today at practice and the police reportedly were called.
To recap from source: Drake/McGloin jawing in practice, Drake initiates making amends in locker room, McGloin takes exception... McGloin punch/shove (unclear), Drake takes him to floor, pop to the chin, McGloin 'lights out.' Kicker Anthony Fera . A team meeting was called for 4:30 pm local time. also confirmed that the university police have filed a report, but they wouldn't give any more information than that.
Now this has taken a turn for the worse:
The Patriot-News has learned that Penn State's starting quarterback Matt McGloin was taken to a State College-area hospital Saturday afternoon for treatment for a possible seizure.Matt McGloin's dad said his son and has a possible concussion. Also that his son is back at his apartment, apparently . He has tweeted it was hacked. I'd like to think it was not, especially since he deleted the account completely following all this.
Paul McGloin, Matt's father, told The Patriot-News Saturday afternoon that he had left his home and just arrived in State College to check on his son's health. Paul McGloin said Penn State team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli notified him that his son was being checked for a possible seizure.
[UPDATE: on the incident: "Penn State Police were called to the football locker room this afternoon to investigate a report of a fight between two members of the Nittany Lions football team — Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake — after they finished practice. McGloin was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was examined, treated and released.
Campus police and Penn State’s Office of Judicial Affairs will investigate the incident and report results as they would for any other student involved in an incident on campus."
This would awfully put the Penn State Nittany Lions scandalous football season to rest.
Update: McGloin talking about the incident on Monday:
