Saturday is when the World Anti-Doping Agency will meet to update the current list of banned substances in sports. Reports (through the Associated Press) are surfacing throughout today that Nicotine is possibly one of the substances that will be added to the list.
The World Anti-Doping Agency has a report from their laboratory in Lausanne which describes "alarming evidence" across 43 sports, which were studied, that nicotine is heavily used. Nicotine will be a substance of discussion on Saturday on whether or not it should be placed on the list or just monitored across sports.
According to the study and report, nicotine increases vigilance and pulse rate, and reduces stress and body weight.

This is possibly a way for the agency to make Olympian athletes stop smoking (cigarettes). Once they do stop smoking though, what can they use to help them lose the urge to smoke? The patch is out of question.
