After all the which team will draft Terrelle Pryor last week, in which the Oakland Raiders drafted him (as a QB?), began the drama of which number was he going to wear this year for the team. The drama has concluded after today. After his first practice with the team, since he signed a 4-year contract yesterday, the team assigned him the number that will define him during his playing career with the Raiders.
During his Ohio State playing days, Pryor always wore #2 as the Buckeyes QB. The Raiders last quarterback to wear #2 was also a highly scrutinized player. Terrelle Pryor said today that he tried to get his lifelong jersey number, but the Raiders' head coach Hue Jackson would not let him wear #2. So instead of embarrassing their newly acquired athlete, the Raiders decided to give him the #6.
Because having a 6'6 QB in a #2 Raiders jersey would remind too many people of the NFL legend known as Jamarcus Russell. Who may have just became the only NFL player to have a jersey retired by being the worst player in team history.

Al Davis and the Raiders are always amusing. By this logic, the Raiders might as well not give out any jersey numbers that were worn from 2003-2009.
Terrelle Pryor drama continues to translate perfectly into the NFL.
