Maya Moore's Salary for the WNBA

Maya Moore is arguably the best women's college basketball player of all time. She was a lock for the number one overall pick in the WNBA draft whenever she decided to be eligible for it.
If she was number one overall in the NBA draft, she would make over $5 million a year with many additional advertisement contracts. Since she is playing for a league that is near bankrupt and distinction, the greatest women's college basketball player will only make $45,000 this year with Minnesota. She will get some additional advertisement contracts as well, but nowhere near as much as a Blake Griffin or John Wall made their rookie years.
Watching a women's basketball game, it is mesmerizing at how many empty seats are being shown each time the ball is dribbled up the court. Women's basketball arena's usually have a capacity of 15,000 - 20,000 seats. On TV it looks like just over 1,000 seats are filled during every regular season game.
It is very obvious watching those games as to why so many of the star WNBA players are asking for transfers to play overseas. The difference between a WNBA salary and overseas is nearly 5 TIMES. With those type of statistics, it is surprising women basketball stars even stay in America to play.
Dianna Taurasi made that choice two to three years ago to go overseas, but due to a drug test had to come back. Maya Moore, Candace Parker and all the other stars need to really think about transferring overseas to play basketball. Especially since the trend that the WNBA is going, it will not be much longer until extinction.

  1. So sad! Why not play double-headers with men's teams. Mystics and Wizards would play on the same night, with Mystics ticket prices substantially less.

  3. Where are you getting your facts homeboy. Diana Taurasi and everyone else plays overseas and in America...they play at home because its a dream come true...since they don't make the same amount of money as NBA players do they have to play overseas and in the WNBA which results in these women playing all year around without sometimes having a break...Since NBA players make millions they don't have to go overseas and play...they can rest at the end of the season...Diana and many other WNBA players have been doing this for years...Diana was thinking of taking a year off from the WNBA because she has been playing basketball non-stop for about 7 to 8 years but she has yet to do that...don't read an article from espn or where ever and put it into your own words...what you wrote isn't true...And no the arenas aren't sold out but not all arenas have a problem with attendance...
